The latter half of the year is an author’s dream. Scratch that - not even just the author’s dream, but rather, every person who has to market through social media. Once we start to get to the cooler months, suddenly our feeds are full of all things fall themed, Halloween tips and tricks, and so much more. Whether we like it or not, the internet takes its own swing and leans towards the holiday of its month.

This is a blessing!

Using the Month to your Advantage

As non-profressionals working in the social media industry in order to promote a product, seasonal traditions can reduce the work we have to accomplish. Already we know what the consumer will be focused on. For instance, in the month of October, it’s all about Halloween. Companies will release spooky-specific products, they will decorate their stores, and they will post on their social medias about the upcoming holiday.

Us writers can do the same thing.

Get your month started on a high note and be prepared for all of it by using the Halloween-high to promote your work. It’s an easy way to stay on top of social media as well as keep readers remembering your name.

Just by taking a trip down Pinterest you can see countless Halloween inspired things that you can use for promotions. What I have done, to save myself some work while also having some fun, is collected a handful of spooky writing prompts that fit the theme for this month. Instead of having regular blog posts around the holiday week, I will finish off this month with a series of short stories! Not only is this a fun way to engage an audience, but it also allows me to stretch my creative muscles and give some freewriting a go.

By planning out your month of social media advertisements, you can take a seat and focus on what matters most: your writing!

This quick little blog post I hope can bring in the weekend and inspire you to take a rabbit hole down the tunnel towards Halloween. Spend some time freewriting with scary prompts. Go on Canva and bust out a series of October themed posts that all tie back into your book. Plan your month now, when we are still in the first week, and be set up for only success.

Thanks for tuning in. See you soon :)
